07/21/2010 - Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran offensive lineman Adrian Jones to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
Financial terms of the deal were not announced.
Jones was released in training camp last season by the Houston Texans and did not appear in an NFL game.
The 29-year-old was a fourth round selection by the New York Jets in 2004 and appeared in 44 games, 16 as a starter -- all in 2005 -- in four seasons before being waived in 2007.
He then hooked on with Kansas City and played in 11 games, 10 as a starter, for the Chiefs in 2008.
To make room for Jones on the roster, the Steelers placed offensive tackle Willie Colon on the reserved/injured list. Colon suffered a season-ending Achilles injury last month and underwent surgery to repair the damage.
The Steelers chose Colon in the fourth round of the 2006 Draft and he had started all 48 regular season games at right tackle over the last three seasons after playing in just two games as a rookie.
